The Addams Family

The Addams Family

A NEW MUSICAL COMEDY

By Special Arrangement with Elephant Eye Theatrical

The Addams’ have lived by their unique values for hundreds of years and Gomez and Morticia, the patriarch and matriarch of the clan, would be only too happy to continue living that way. THE ADDAMS FAMILY is a comical, musical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family and features an original story… and it’s every father’s nightmare!

Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family – a man her parents have never met. To make matters worse, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before – keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. As if all this wasn’t upsetting enough, Wednesday has invited her “normal” boyfriend and his parents to the Addams’ family home for dinner!

In one fateful, hilarious night, secrets are disclosed, relationships are tested, and the Addams family must face up to the one horrible thing they’ve managed to avoid for generations: change.

The King's Speech

The King's Speech

Our 50th anniversary production is the incredible and beautiful play written by David Seidler.

The King’s Speech is the story of Prince Albert, Duke of York and our own Queen’s father, who ascended the throne when his brother abdicated to marry Wallis Simpson. “Bertie” has suffered all his life with a crippling speech impediment and he reluctantly hires the help of a maverick Australian speech therapist to cure his stammer. This is the remarkable story of their friendship at the outbreak of World War II.

We feel sure you will agree that there can be no better choice in this, our Queen’s own Platinum Jubilee Year!

Please note this production contains some strong language.

Carousel

CAROUSEL is a vibrant and timeless story of passion, loss and redemption with some of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s most beautiful and enduring songs of all time.  This poignant story of the faithful Julie and her robust, but charming carnival barker husband Billy Bigelow, includes such much-loved classics as: If I Loved You, June is Bustin’ Out All Over, When the Children are Asleep and You’ll Never Walk Alone to name but a few.

From enigmatic love stories to enchanting energetic ensemble dance numbers, the show also highlights issues such as domestic abuse, that are as relevant today as they were when the show was written.   We hope you’ll continue to support us and the Theatre and enjoy this time-honoured classic.

Nell Gwynn

Nell Gwynn

Winner of the 2016 Olivier Award for best new comedy, Jessica Swale’s bawdy and boisterous Nell Gwynn comes to the Concordia Theatre.

This hilarious and sassy comedy set in 1660 follows the life and loves of Nell Gwynn as she rises from her roots as a lowly orange seller and takes to the stage to become one of the nation’s first and most beloved female actresses.

Charles II has been restored to the throne and is transforming London with his passion of all things loud and sexy, bringing back all the joy, merriment – and women – that have long been missing. Nell’s presence on stage catches his eye and, enraptured by her charm and spirit, the King takes her to his bed where she quickly becomes his favourite, and most infamous mistress. However, her meteoric rise to fame is not without its dangers. At a time when women are second class citizens, and with her family and friends at risk, Nell must face the perils of court and decide where her future and loyalties lie.

This rip-roaring show promises to be a hugely entertaining night out! With lots of laughs and some singing thrown in why not join us as we lift your spirits on this journey back in time.
